Concord's Karachi Mbagwu and Dustin Greenwood both are leading the WVIAC conference championship for the heptathlon and decathlon.

 

Karachi is the defending conference champion on the women’s side. She is up 400 points from last year at the conclusion of the first day. Karachi performed at a peek level improving personal best in the high jump (5’2.25) and the 200m (26.12). Fr. Kate Kauffman is in fifth with 1,706 points and Jr. Brooke Wilson is in sixth with 1542. New comers to the heptathlon, Jessica Boggs is in seventh with 1518 and Dannie Pye is in ninth with 1470.

 

Dustin Greenwood is leading by 276 over WVWC Baisdon. Dustin edged Baisdon last year to finish in third place. Dustin had an optimal performance today in four of the five events. PR’s: 100m 11.42, LJ 20’10.25, HJ 6’3.25, and the 400m 53.07. New comer to the decathlon, So. Jay White is currently is tenth place with 2038 points.

 

Tomorrow the women will compete in three events (LJ, Javelin, and 800m) and the men will compete in five (110h, DT, PV, JT, and 1500).

 

Concord will look to continue their success in day two of the WVIAC Championship in Wheeling West Virginia at Wheeling Jesuit University.
