Multiple Records Fall in Day 2 of WVIAC Multi-events

Day 2 of the WVIAC Multi-event Championships saw the Heptathlon and Decathlon records drop. In the Women's Heptathlon, Concords' Karachi Mbagwu defended her title with a total of 4188 pts , setting a new meet record. Mbagwu completed the day with a 2:25.49 performance in the 800m for a new event record. Karachi also set the meet record in the 200m and the high jump. Fr. Kate Kauffman finished in the final scoring postion for the Mt. Lions. Pye and Wilson finish just behind Kauffman in seventh and eighth.


On the men's side Concords Dustin Greenwood had the best performance on the day. Greenwood finished the day with a score of 6298 pts setting a new meet record previously held by Wheeling Jesuit's three-time champion Aaron Rosier.Greenwood also set a new high jump record and javelin record for the meet. Greenwood missed the NCAA qualifying mark in the decathlon by 2 points (6300).

Despite missing the NCAA mark in the Decathlon, Greenwood threw a personal best in the javelin throw qualifing him for NCAA Nationals in California. Currently, his throw of 62.89m (206-4). will rank Greewood 7th in the NCAA.

The scores from today will care over to next week at the WVIAC Track & Field Championships. Concord will go into the meet with 10 points on the men side and 11 points in the women's competition.
