Coming out of a bye week, and with its own invitational meet coming up on Saturday, the Concord Men’s Cross Country team held its place in this week’s regional rankings.

The Mountain Lions remain at #6 in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region poll, conducted by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Concord moved up from #9 to #6 in the poll last week after finishing fifth in the 33-team “University ‘Blue’” division of the Greater Louisville Classic October.

All of CU’s top five runners finished within the top 70 out of 331 competitors.

CU preceded their Louisville performance with a fourth-place showing at the 26th Annual Greensboro Invitational September 26.

Concord is the highest-ranked of three West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference teams in the poll.  Seton Hill is 8th and Wheeling Jesuit 9th.

Up next for the Mountain Lions is the Concord Invitational this coming Saturday, October 17, at Pipestem State Park.

After that is the WVIAC Championships in Glenville, WV October 24.  The NCAA regional and national meets are scheduled for November.
