Home court advantage doesn't mean everything.

Other factors have a decided impact on a team's chances for success.  Like getting some rest.

Playing its second WVIAC match in about 14 hours, the Concord Volleyball team dropped a four-set decision to West Virginia Wesleyan Saturday morning at the Carter Center.

The Mountain Lions' meeting with the Bobcats came on the heels of Concord's four-set home win over Glenville State Friday night.

Meanwhile, it was West Virginia Wesleyan's first action since a strong four-set win over a solid University of Charleston team in Buckhannon on October 16.

The Bobcats won a narrow first set, 25-22, then won the second set decisively, 25-14.

Concord recovered to take the third set 25-21.

But WVWC closed out the match with a 25-16 win in set four.

Emily Wilson topped Concord with 12 kills and added 11 digs.  Kayla Martin floored 11 kills.

Helen Thiesen distributed 28 assists and Kelly Newberry led CU with 12 digs.

Concord's record is 11-16, 3-7 in the WVIAC.

The Mountain Lions now get a chance to rest up, and they'll need it.

Concord faces another Friday-Saturday, back-to-back sequence of matches next weekend -- all the way up in the Northern Panhandle.

CU visits first-place Wheeling Jesuit Friday night, October 30, at 7:00 pm EDT, then goes to West Liberty State for an 11:00 am match on Saturday, October 31.
