Concord Coach Justice Named To WVU All-Decade Football Team

CU's Offensive Line Coach Honored For Mountaineer Career


The West Virginia University football program returned to national prominence in the first decade of the new century.

Featuring one of the country's best rushing attacks, the Mountaineers won more than two-thirds of their games, including bowl victories over perennial powers Oklahoma and Georgia.

For his role in the program's ascendance, former Mountaineer offensive tackle and current Concord offensive line coach Garin Justice has earned a spot on WVU's All-Decade Team, as announced by MSN Sports Net, the media partner of Moutaineer sports.


A native of Gilbert, WV, Justice started for WVU from 2003-2005.  During those years, the Mountaineers were 27-10, 17-3 in the Big East Conference, and won three league championships.  

In Justice's senior season, 2005, WVU went 11-1, 7-0 in the Big East, including a dramatic triple-overtime win over Louisville and a 45-13 blowout of arch-rival Pittsburgh in the annual Backyard Brawl.

The Mountaineers capped the 2005 campaign with a 38-35 victory over Georgia in the Nokia Sugar Bowl and a #5 ranking in the final Associated Press national poll.

Justice was named All-Big East and a second-team All-American in 2005.  He also earned the Big East Scholar-Athlete of the Year award.

Justice became Concord's offensive line coach and strength & conditioning coordinator in December 2008.  He was instrumental in the Mountain Lions' surprising 6-5 record in 2009, a season in which CU rushed for 227.0 yards per game and averaged 33.2 points per contest.

Justice guided a Concord offensive line past a series of injuries to lead running back Brian Kennedy win the WVIAC rushing title.  The sophomore averaged 136.8 yards per game and 6.9 yards per carry and scored 17 rushing touchdowns.  Kennedy set a Concord single-game record when he followed the CU line for 296 yards in a 52-34 Homecoming victory over Seton Hill October 17.

Four of Concord's linemen -- Bryan Roof, Brandon Link, Mitch Hairston and Stephen Clark -- earned All-WVIAC recognition.
