Mountain Lions Finish Season Strong at WVIAC Championships

Athens, WV-Concord’s Ladies’ Track Team came out strong at the conference championship finishing 3rd overall with a total score of 94. The men’s team wasn’t far behind finishing 4th with 80 points.

 

On the ladies side, the 4x4 relay team (Erin Barrnett, Lindsey DeVaughn, Keri Hill, and Brittany Robbins) had record breaking success. Not only did they shatter the old school and conference record but the time of 3:59:89 was the 1st time in school history of under 4 minutes in the event. Erin Barrnett, Brittany Pratt, Keri Hill, and Brittany Robbins took the championship in the 4x100 relay. Brittany Robbins was also named freshman of the Year.

 

Freshman Erin Barrnett added to an already impressive meet winning the 200 meter with a time of 27.04. Brittany Pratt set a school record with her championship long jump and finished 3rd in the pole vault.  

 

On the men’s side Concord was led by senior Cornell Core, who was named MVP of the championship. Core was clutch for the Mountain Lions finishing 2nd in Long Jump and Triple Jump but also contributed on the track helping the Mountain Lions finish 3rd in the 4x400 relay.  Szymon Rola continued to have a great deal of success taking home the WVIAC Championship in the 1500 meter run. The men’s team edged out Glenville State by 5 points to take the 3rd spot in the Conference.
