Bookmark and Share
Just like the women's team just before them on Friday evening, September 18, the Concord Men's Cross Country team found itself pitted against an almost-entirely Division I field at the Virginia Tech Invitational in Blacksburg, VA.

Concord, ranked 9th in the most recent U.S. Track & Cross Country Coaches Association NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional poll, finished 7th on Friday, behind six D1 programs.

Craig Pritt was the Mountain Lions' top performer, coming home 38th in a field of 94 competitors.  Pritt covered the 7.6K course in 25:40.9 and finished ahead of 19 D1 runners.

Robbie Peters posted Concord's second-fastest time, finishing 56th in 26:14.3.

The Mountain Lions' Nathan Rees and Nick Lucento crossed the finish line nearly simultaneously, Rees in 26:36.9 and Luceto in 26:37.0.

Lance McDaniel negotiated the terrain in 27:01.4 and Benji Hamer in 27:13.9.

Behind them came another another intra-Concord photo finish -- John Meadows finished his run in 27:21.5, with Brad Dugan in at 27:21.7.

Host Virginia Tech won the event, with Florida State second. Charlotte was third, Wake Forest fourth, Ohio University fifth and South Carolina-Upstate sixth.
Division II Roanoke College wound up eighth.

The Concord men's next scheduled competition is the Hagon Stone Classic in Greensboro, NC, next Saturday, September 26.
