The Concord Women’s Volleyball team will have to clear some hurdles on the journey back to contender status in the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Like dealing with the defending league champions.
The Lady Lions visited 2008 regular season champion West Virginia State Wednesday night, falling to the Yellow Jackets 25-14, 25-15, 25-13 in Fleming Hall in Institute, WV.
Junior MH Emily Wilson (Hurricane, WV/Hurricane HS) led Concord with 10 kills. Sophomore S Helen Thiesen (Manassas, VA/Osbourn Park HS) distributed 14 assists.
The loss drops Concord’s record to 9-7 overall, 2-3 in the WVIAC.
The Lady Lions visit Alderson-Broaddus next Saturday, October 3. The match begins at 3:00 pm EDT.
Concord’s next home match will be next Tuesday, October 6, against Southern Virginia. The non-conference meeting begins at 7:00 pm EDT in the Carter Center.
