Track & Field Excels In Indoor Opener

Women Win Four Events, Men Claim Three

The Concord Track & Field teams opened the 2010 indoor season with a strong showing in the Marietta College Open #1 on Saturday.
 
The Mountain Lion men finished first and the women second at the Dyson-Baudo Recreation Center in Marietta, OH. The men won three events and the women four.
 
 
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
R.J. Anderson won the 55 meter dash, with Dennis Cole finishing third. Cole also placed second in the 200 meters.
Robby Peters won the the mile.
Sterling Snyder won the 5000 meters, with teammates Lance McDaniel, Nathan Rees and Nick Lucento completing a Concord sweep of the top four spots.
Brad Dugan finished second in the 3000 meters.
John Gadomski was third in the 55 meter hurdles.
Bobby Thompson was third in the shot put.
 
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
Rachel Williams won the mile.
Brittany Pratt claimed the long jump title.
The Mountain Lions won the 4x200 relay (Erin Barnett, Brittany Pratt, Lydia Powell, Brittany Robbins) and the 4x400 relay (Robbins, Barnett, Powell, Lindsey DeVaughn).
Robbins was second in the 200 meter dash and DeVaughn second in the 1000 meters.
Danielle Pye – who's helping to organize a benefit basketball tournament to help victims of the earthquake in Haiti – finished second in the 3000 meters.
Chelsea Callaway and Carli Stout finished 2nd and 3rd in the 5000 meters.
Barnett was third in the 55 meters.

Elsewhere, Shawnee Carnett finished 7th in the women's 800 meters and Szymon Rola 7th in the men's 800 meters at the Virginia Tech Invitational in Blacksburg, VA.
The event featured Division I schools like Arkansas, Clemson, South Carolina, Wake Forest and North Carolina.
