RECORD-SETTING SPRING BREAK

Mountain Lions Set Five School Marks In South Carolina

Javelin Thrower #2

Lots of college students headed to the Myrtle Beach area for spring break enjoyment.
This year, Concord's Track & Field teams were among them.

The Mountain Lions had some fun on their trip, especially on the track, setting five school records in the Coastal Carolina Invitational on March 12th and 13th in Conway, SC.

Shawnee Carnett topped the record-breakers in her run to victory in the women's 800 meters. The freshman posted a time of 2:14.18, shattering Danielle Pye's old mark of 2:20.0, set last year.
Carnett's mark is under the 2:14.50 required to provisionally qualify for this season's NCAA national meet.  It's also the top time in the nation this season.

Concord's other record-setting performances were group efforts -- both the men's and women's 4 x 200 and 4 x 800 relay squads set new CU marks.
The men's 4 x 200 team (Dennis Cole, Orlando Bryant, Jason Brackett, John Gadomski) finished 10th at CCU, at 1:33.66.
The women's 4 x 200 team (Carnett, Lydia Powell, Brittany Pratt, Erin Barnett) was also 10th, at 1:46.59.
The women's 4 x 800 team (Pye, Lindsey DeVaughn, Chelsea Callaway, Rachel Williams) finished second at CCU, at 9:39.64.
The men's 4 x 800 team (Szymon Rola, Robbie Peters, Craig Pritt, Nathan Rees) was third at 7:55.59.
Peters also finished 8th in the 5000 meters.

Concord's other highlight performances in Conway included:
RJ Anderson -- 5th in the men's 200 meter dash and 6th in the 100 meters
Sterling Snyder -- 8th in the men's 10000 meters, with teammate Nick Lucento 15th
Lance McDaniel -- 10th in the men's 3000-meter steeplechase and 18th in the 10000 meters
Carli Stout -- 9th in the women's 3000-meter steeplechase and 20th in the 3000 meters
