EARNS 2nd STRAIGHT 'ATHLETE OF THE WEEK' HONOR

The WVIAC has named Concord's Shawnee Carnett as the Women's Track & Field Athlete of the Week.  

It's the second consecutive honor for Carnett, a freshman from Sugar Grove, VA/Marion HS. 

She had earned two AOW awards during Concord's Indoor season this past winter.

Track Athlete of the Week
SHAWNEE CARNETT, CONCORD:  H

ad a good showing this past weekend at the Wake Forest Invitational with a 58.55 in the 400m, a 26.52 in 200m, and split 57.23 in the 4 x 4.
Field Athlete of the Week
Emily Taylor
, Wheeling Jesuit: Placed 10th in the shot put 12.22m and 2nd in the Discus Throw 41.79m this past weekend at the Wake Forest Invitational.

MEN
Track Athlete of the Week
Dwight Holden
, WV Wesleyan:  Ran a NCAA Div. II Provisional time in the 110 HH with a time of 14.55 ranking him 3rd in the nation.
Field Athlete of the Week
Ricky Kump
, WV Wesleyan:  Won the decathlon with 6569pts this past weekend at the Charlotte 49er Classic good enough for a NCAA Div. II Provisional mark. The mark currently places him 5th in the nation.
