Led by a top-ten finish by Emmanuel Charmat – one of three top-25 performances – Concord's Men's Golf team came in seventh in a competitive North Alabama Spring Invitational on Tuesday, March 30th.
Charmat posted an even-par 72 Tuesday to grab a share of 10th place in the field of 101 players.
Ryan Terdik carded a 73 to move into a group of players in 25th place, joining teammate Johan Isberg.
Kyle Long and Jimmy Ettore tied for 45th.
While the weather was nice in Muscle Shoals, AL, conditions at the Robert Trent Jones-designed Fighting Joe Course were less than docile.
“The wind was at 30 miles an hour on a links-style course,” said Concord assistant coach Darcy Donaldson. “It took us the first nine holes to get a feel for it, but once we did we played very well.
“To show how tough it could get, the top-ranked player in Division II (Brent Munson of the host school, North Alabama) shot a 76 on Tuesday. All our guys shot better than him in the second round.”

"We finished ahead of Central Missouri, which is ranked in front of us," said Donaldson. (Central Missouri is 18th in the nation, and Concord 71st, in the most recent golfstat.com rankings.) "Every shot is important, and we've shown we can play with the best teams in the country. This will help our confidence for the rest of season and help us get ready for Regionals."
Concord will host the NCAA Atlantic/East Regional tournament May 3-5 at Glade Springs Resort in Daniels, WV.
The Mountain Lions return to competition in the WVIAC Northern Regional tournament in Wheeling, WV, on April 4th and 5th.
