Concord’s Track & Field teams claimed a combined ten first-place finishes at the Brandi Bowen Memorial Pioneer Invitational, hosted by Glenville State College on Friday, April 9th.
CU’s women won six events, and the men four, as each squad finished second in the team standings.
WOMEN
Brittany Pratt and reigning WVIAC Athlete of the Week Shawnee Carnett each won two events. Pratt claimed the
200-meter dash and the long jump; Carnett won the 400- and 800-meter runs.
Danielle Pye won the 1500 meters, with Carly Stout runner-up. Pye was also 4th in the 800 meters.
Chelsea Calloway was first in the 10000 meters.
Erin Barnett was runner-up in the 100-meter and the 400-meter dashes.
Lydia Powell finished second in the 400 meters and third in the 200. Lindsey DeVaughn was third in the 800, as was Micalyn Miller in the 5000.
MEN
Jason Brackett topped the Mountain Lions with championships in the 400-meter dash and 400-meter hurdles. Ben Umstead finished just behind Brackett in the dash.
Lance McDaniel, Nathan Rees and Brad Dugan gave Concord a 1-2-3 showing in the 5000 meters, with Nick Lucento in fifth.
Sterling Snyder won the 3000 meters.
CU got runner-up performances from Brad Ferguson in the 10000 meters and John Gadomski in the 110-meter hurdles.
Robby Peters and Rees were 3rd and 4th in the 800 meters.
Craig Pritt was 3rd in the 1500.
In the field events, Bobby Thompson was 5th in the discus and John Meadows 5th in the javelin.
