According to the most recent WVIAC statistics, Concord's Baseball team is ranked behind the University of Charleston in batting average and runs scored.
According to the doubleheader the two teams played Saturday, those rankings don't mean much.
The Mountain Lions decisively outhit and outscored the Golden Eagles in sweeping their Southern Division twinbill, 18-1 and 21-2, on a cool, sunny afternoon at Anderson Field.
Concord banged out 36 hits to Charleston's 14 and scored in 13 of the day's 14 innings to improve to 20-5 overall, 9-4 in the division and 11-0 at home.
The sweep also clinched the Mountain Lions a spot in the WVIAC Tournament, May 5th-9th, in Johnstown, PA.

It took four innings for Concord's offense to really get going. But when it did….
The Mountain Lions scored a remarkable 16 – yes, sixteen – runs in the bottom of the 4th on their way to their second rout of the day.
Before that: A solo home run by Huffer in the bottom of the 1st gave Concord an early lead, but Charleston squared matters on a solo shot by Mike Dahl in the top of the 2nd. The Mountain Lions tallied twice in the 3rd – Huffer and Schram doubled, and Brooks Cullen added an RBI single.
Then came the bottom of the 4th.
Morrisroe again had a hand in things; his three-run home run plated the first runs of the rally. After that, Huffer singled and Schram hit a two-run homer.
Tyler Webb hit an RBI single; then, with the bases loaded, James Stehlin and Beard drew walks, Morrisroe was hit by a pitch, Huffer drew another walk … and Schram (right) launched a grand slam.
Webb and Stehlin each added RBI singles to close out the scoring.
