Long was eligible to play as an individual competitor after Concord, as a team, missed the cut after Thursday’s third round. The NCAA Men’s Golf Committee trimmed the field from 20 teams to 15 due to the threat of heavy weather on Friday. (Story:   http://www.cumountainlions.com/news/2010/5/20/MGOLF_0520103312.aspx?path=mgolf)

Long was one of the top six individuals taken from the pool of five teams that fell below the cut line.

Long struggled early Friday, opening with a double bogey followed by two consecutive bogeys. He settled down on the back nine, but still dropped from 23rd to 45th in the individual standings. (Long’s scorecard: http://www.golfstatresults.com/public/leaderboards/player/detail.cfm?player_id=39532&tournament_id=1606)
