MEN'S SOCCER SETS 2010 SCHEDULE

SEASON STARTS SEPTEMBER 3rd

Four straight home matches to start and a road-heavy finish bookend the Concord Men's Soccer team's 2010 schedule.

The Mountain Lions will open the season by hosting a tournament at Anderson Field over Labor Day weekend.  CU will host Holy Family (PA) at 5:00 pm on Friday, September 3rd, then will take on East Stroudsburg (PA) at 3:00 pm the next day.

Head Coach Steve Barrett's squad opens its WVIAC campaign by hosting 2009 runner-up Davis & Elkins at 4:00 pm on Wednesday, September 8th.   Fourth-place Seton Hill visits Anderson Field for a 2:00 pm match on Saturday, September 11th.

The Mountain Lions then play three consecutive road matches before returning home to meet Shepherd on Saturday, September 25th.

After that, CU closes the regular season with seven of their last nine matches on the road.

The Mountain Lions will play a full slate of nine WVIAC matches.
Aside from Holy Family and East Stroudsburg, other non-conference opponents are Bluefield College (VA), Shippensburg University (PA), King College (TN), Salem International (which left the WVIAC on May 1, 2010), Virginia Intermont and Mountain State (WV).

Other highlights of the schedule include:
* A home match against defending WVIAC champion and NCAA Elite Eight participant University of Charleston at 4:00 pm on Tuesday, October 5th.
* A visit to 2009 WVIAC 3rd-place finisher Wheeling Jesuit on Saturday, October 9th.
* A trip to Ohio Valley on Wednesday, October 20th for the final conference match of the season.
* Ending the season against four consecutive opponents that Concord defeated in 2009.

Concord's 2010 opponents combined for a record of 129-165-22 (.440) in 2009.
The Mountain Lions' WVIAC rivals went 84-94-14 (.474), while the Lions' non-conference foes were 45-71-8 (.336).

Eight of this fall's opponents had winning records last year:  Holy Family, East Stroudsburg, D&E, Seton Hill, West Virginia Wesleyan, Charleston, WJU and King College.
