SOFTBALL SIGNS TWO NEW PLAYERS

ORD, KOBORDO BRING SPEED, POWER TO CU

Concord Softball has added speed and power to its 2011 roster.

Head coach Sabrina McCullough has announced the signings of Casey Ord and Tiffany Kobordo to letters of intent to attend CU. The duo will begin play for the Lady Lions in the 2011 season.

Ord and Kobordo come to Concord from Northampton Community College in Bethlehem, PA. The Spartans went 27-10 in 2010 and were runners-up in the National Junior College Athletic Association Region XIX tournament.

Ord was a two-time All-Region XIX selection and a 2009 NJCAA All-American. NCC named her Outstanding Female Athlete after the Spartans' 2009-2010 campaign. 

This past season, in 36 games, the speedy switch-hitting outfielder stole 37 bases in 39 attempts, after a perfect 35-35 in 2009. 

Ord hit .438 with a .451 on-base percentage and scored 30 runs in 2010. The year before, she hit a remarkable .543 with 36 runs scored in 35 games.

Injuries limited Kobordo to a .277 batting average and 15 RBIs in her sophomore season of 2010, although she scored 26 runs.

 However, Kobordo posted an outstanding freshman season in '09, hitting .475 with six home runs, 19 doubles and 41 runs batted in over 37 games. She earned a berth on the NJCAA All-Region XIX 2nd Team.
