It took the Concord Men's Basketball team a little while to find itself early this season.

The Mountain Lions started the campaign with four straight losses, but came together to reel off a six-game winning streak going into the semester break.

However, that break lasted four weeks.  And, after such a long layoff, the Mountain Lions may need some time to recapture their form.

Concord suffered from choppy play and committed 22 turnovers in an 80-67 loss at Fairmont State Saturday afternoon. It was CU's first game since December 11.

Using a balanced offense, with nine different players scoring, Concord never trailed in the game's first 15 minutes. Fairmont State (8-1, 6-1 WVIAC) would recover to take a narrow 36-33 lead at halftime.

The contest remained close after the break, and Rick Alderman's three-point play drew CU to within 51-49 with 12:39 left.
But FSU blitzed Concord with a 12-2 run over the next 3:16 to open a 63-51 lead, and the Mountain Lions (6-5, 3-4) could get no closer than nine points after that.

Alderman led Concord with 15 points and six rebounds. Javaughn Acree-Manuel, the WVIAC's second-leading scorer, added 11 points – half his season average.

Fairmont State got double-doubles from Terrance Green (19 points and 14 rebounds) and Isaac Thornton (16 and 12).

The Fighting Falcons committed just 12 turnovers and outrebounded CU 43-34. FSU also forged a 19-8 margin in offensive rebounds, leading to advantages of 20-11 in second-chance points and 36-24 in points in the paint.
