Concord's men basketball team faced its longest road trip of the WVIAC season on Saturday when they visited the Shepherd Rams.

The journey from Athens to Shepherdstown can last as long as six hours.  It's a long drive.

But the ride back must have felt like an eternity for the Mountain Lions.

Concord struggled right after tipoff, missing 14 of its first 17 shots, quickly fell behind 25-9, and dropped an 83-61 decision to the Rams at the Butcher Center.

The Mountain Lions went into game with the conference's 3rd-leading offense, averaging 83.7 points per game.  CU's 61 points on Saturday was its lowest total of the season.  Shepherd went in averaging 69.6 points, the lowest average in the league, but shot .509 (28-55) on Saturday.

Shepherd committed 20 turnovers but forced Concord into 14, and outrebounded CU 47-28.

Javaughn Manuel paced the Mountain Lions with 17 points, shooting 7-14 from the field.  The rest of the starting lineup combined for 14 points.  Burnell Granderson came off the bench to post eight points and a team-high nine rebounds.  Freshman center Jordan Davis added eight points and three rebounds.

Chad Moore led Shepherd (10-10, 8-8) with a double-double of 20 points and 20 rebounds.
