CHARLESTON, W. Va. – Senior golfer Stephanie Peareth connected on a hole-in-one en route to winning the Mountain East Conference Southern Regional by one stroke Tuesday at the Berry Hills Country Club in Charleston, W. Va.

Peareth finished the 36-hole competition with a score of 154 (+14). The victory was her first victory of the season. Her ace came on the 14th hole in round two, a 127-yard par three uphill approach. Finishing just behind Peareth was senior teammate Marina Erice, who placed tied for second after shooting a 155 (+15) for her first top-five showing of the year.

Junior Alex Smith just missed out on a top-20 finish by coming in 21st place at 186 (+46).

West Virginia Wesleyan won the team competition with a score of 685. The Bobcats were followed in the top-five by Notre Dame College (686), Charleston (708), Urbana (744) and West Liberty (758). Concord did not factor in the team scoring as Peareth, Erice and Smith competed as individuals.

The MEC also announced its year-end awards Tuesday. Peareth and Erice both earned first team all-league accolades. The honor was Peareth's second consecutive such award and Erice's fourth. Prior to this season, both excelled in the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Smith also received the first all-conference award of her career after being named an honorable mention all-MEC golfer.

Wheeling Jesuit's Kasey Frazier was tabbed as the MEC Player of the Year while Notre Dame's Brianna Stokes earned Freshman of the Year accolades. Colleen Groomes of Notre Dame was picked as the conference's first Coach of the Year.

All-Conference honorees were selected by totaling the aggregate scores from all MEC sponsored golf events. The top-six individuals were named to the first team while athletes ranked six through 12 are recognized as second team all-conference performers.
