CU THIS WEEKEND: MEN'S SOCCER

MOUNTAIN LIONS OPEN SEASON WITH TWO GAMES AT HOME INVITATIONAL

Concord's Men's Soccer begins its 2010 season with two games on the home pitch at Anderson Field.  The contests are part of a two-day, four-team, four-match invitational.

Head coach Steve Barrett's Mountain Lions host Holy Family University (PA) on Friday, September 3 at 5:00 pm.  CU meets East Stroudsburg University (PA) on Saturday, September 4 at 3:00 pm.

Davis & Elkins rounds out the invitational field. The Senators play East Stroudsburg at 3:00 pm Friday and Holy Family at 1:00 pm Saturday.

Admission to all games is free.


Last season CU finished 6-11-1, 2-7-1 in the WVIAC. The Mountain Lions, returning 15 players, including eight starters, are tabbed to finish 9th in the WVIAC in the league's annual pre-season coaches' poll.

Davis & Elkins has a new head coach, Aron Bassoff, and returns two of the top players in the WVIAC in forward Bediako Swan and midfielder Kuda Mabiza. The Senators, picked to finish second in the conference in 2010, went 13-6-1, 9-1 WVIAC last year.
